Minutes: The board approved the minutes from the May 9, 2018 and May 23, 2018 board meetings, as amended.
Consultative Management: Vice President Martin and Governor Brown presented their plan on moving forward with consultative management, taking questions from the board. It was the sense of the board that Vice President Martin and Governor Brown should go forward with their strategy as drafted.
Mentorship in RSI: RSI Steward Canis discussed the conversations that he and other RSI CREA representatives have had with RSI management about mentoring new employees, many of whom have been hired in the last year. The RSI Assistant Director and Deputy Assistant Director produced two memos on the subject of new staff, including one on mentor responsibilities. CREA has distributed the memos to everyone in RSI. Treasurer Brass suggested the possibility of sharing the RSI experience with the Training and Education Committee that has been formed as part of implementing the CRS Directional Plan.
Library of Congress Regulation (LCR) on Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO): President Thaul and Vice President Salaam-Blyther reported that the other two Library unions, the Guild (AFSCME Local 2910) and the Employees’ Union (AFSCME Local 2477), have signed off on the EEO LCR, but CREA chose not to sign. The Library has posted the LCR on the website.
