Minutes: The Board approved minutes from the September 27th and October 18th board meetings.
Filling Open Governor Seat: At the October 18, 2017 board meeting, Brian Reeder volunteered to act as governor representing COU (the Office of Counselor to the Director), a seat that was open at the time. There was a motion to elect Mr. Reeder as governor, and the Board proceeded to vote. However, due to the absence of a quorum, Secretary Perl continued the vote via email subsequent to the October 18th meeting. Secretary Perl reported that Mr. Reeder received sufficient votes to be elected governor.
Proposed LCR on Equal Employment Opportunity Policy: President Thaul reported that she/CREA submitted, for CREA and the other two Library unions, suggested changes to the Library’s proposed LCR (Library of Congress Regulation) on Equal Employment Opportunity Policy, and we are waiting to hear back from the Library.
Reorganization of Information Technology (IT) Offices: The Library has notified the three unions about its plan to consolidate all IT offices under the Library’s Chief Information Officer. This means that bargaining unit members in the CRS IMT Office will be moving to the Library. President Thaul said that CREA is working on its response, and discussion ensued.
CRS Working Groups: In the October 24, 2017 TMU, CRS announced the composition of two working groups, one on Diversity Recruitment and Retention and one on Workplace Inclusion. The Board discussed the status of the groups and how they came about.
