Minutes: June 17th, June 3rd, and May 27th minutes accepted.

Scholarship/Loan Repayment: There have been 11 applications. Gov. Stouffer is reviewing the applications. The deadline to submit an application is COB Friday June 19th.

Vacancies for Board and Stewards: CREA has the following vacant positions:

  • OCD Steward
  • FIN Steward
  • IMT Steward and Governor
  • ALD Governor
  • G&F Governor
  • RSI Governor

Cyber Attack: Nick Cook has offered to chair the communications committee to send something to the membership about attack and making sure that people are paying attending. Eric Garcia has set up a meeting with the library’s unions to discuss what the Library can do. Even if a person has not received a letter they can set up credit monitoring now.

Workforce Management and Unions Meeting: Meeting next week to discuss issues. Question has been raised that in the last breach, affected people were provided with lifetime free credit monitoring and up to $3 million in insurance. This time it is 18 month monitoring and $1 million. Why the difference?

Meeting with Monica Woods: Discussed the COP program. There is a COP position that closed a month ago, but very few people seem aware of it. Is there anything in the contract that the union needs to be notified when a position is available?

Meeting with Deputy Librarian and Chief of Staff:  They meet with supervisors and management and talked about IT, personnel and performance issues, and Dr. Billington’s retirement. There will be a public retirement event in October around Columbus Day and a staff event in the fall. There will be an evening affair with Congress and the Madison Council.  There will also be a day when Dr. Billington will have open office hours.

The Board discussed ways to encourage members into advocating for their own interests. Discussed how to counter the fear of retaliation.

Meeting adjourned at 1:00.
