Statements from the Candidates for Vice-President

September 28th, 2009 · No Comments · CREAgrams

This year, the union has two candidates running for Vice President of Policy and Dispute Settlement: Julius C. Jefferson Jr. (KSG-G&F) and Lisa Moscatiello (CAC-Inquiry). Both have been invited to submit a statement in support of their candidacy. Their statements follow in alphabetical order.

Julius C. Jefferson Jr.

My name is Julius C. Jefferson Jr. and I am a candidate for the office of Vice President for Policy and Dispute Settlement. I am an Information Research Specialist in the Knowledge Services Group, Government and Finance Division.

I am currently a Board of Governor. As a BOG I have volunteered to represent CREA for the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day 2009, Grievance Committee, AFL-CIO-ALA Joint Committee on Library Service to Labor Groups and I have also participated in the Negotiating Contracts Seminar with other BOG’s.

I am a former President of AFSME local 3829 at Howard University Libraries. As a union president I gained valuable experience negotiating with management regarding work related disputes and contract negotiations. During my tenure as President I was able to resolve many work issues making the workplace safe and the climate for union members to resolve issues open and fair.

All people want to be treated fairly in the workplace. If I am elected to serve as Vice President I want to be an articulate voice for the members of CREA working to improve our work conditions.

Lisa Moscatiello

As Vice President for Policy and Dispute Resolution I plan to absorb as much of President Dennis Roth’s vast knowledge of labor law and the workings of Congress and CRS as possible. My personal vision for CREA includes fostering closer contact with CREA stewards and CREA members in general through programs, social events, and our redesigned CREA web site.

I see vast opportunity for growth as a union and as a federal agency in making our communications and decision making process as clear, sensitive and flexible as possible, both within CREA and in CRS as an agency.
